here’s a definite magic feel to Susi’s vocals on this set — a style that’s jazzy, but also quite contemporary — spacey vocals on older standards, blended with a 21st Century sense of rhythm and timing! At times, the record gets almost atmospheric — just a bit of light backing as the lyrics spin out slowly in space — and at other points, the rhythms pick up somewhat, with slight electric touches that almost make the album feel like some of the better vocal work on the Jazzland label in recent years. Titles include „Kemo Kimo“, „Je Vivrais Sans Toi“, „Slow Hot Wind“, „Teach Me Tonight“, „Love For Sale“, „In The Summertime“, „Moondance“, „When I Fall In Love“, and „Les Parapluies Des Cherbourg“.

Magic Words is the fifth CD from Susi Hyldgaard.
1996 Susi Hyldgaard released her debut CD „My Female Family“. For 2000 the album „Something Special Just For You „already won the Danish Grammy as“ Best jazz Newcomer
When she has not been touring with her own band she has taken time off to take some musical adventures, eg. a couple of duo concerts in France and Denmark with NHØP and concerts with Nils Landgren. She also composes film scores and finds the work with directors and pictures a pleasant change from performing. She has worked together with Michael Mantler in his version of Paul Austers „Hide and Seek“ which has been performed as a theatre play in Copenhagen and Berlin. The music to „Hide and Seek“ has been released on ECM records and features Robert Wyatt and Susi Hyldgaard.2004 has been her guest appearance at the „Jazzpar „prize concerts in both Copenhagen and Paris. The winner 2004 was Aldo Romano, and the music came out as a live cd, to be released on Enja march 2005. Together with Diana Krall, Rebekka Bakken a.o. Susi Hyldgaard is also featured on the universal music compilation „the finest female jazz today“.
Since 2002 she has released 3 CD’s on enja records . The Album „Home Sweet Home“ was celebrated by the press(2002), and made her Fans multiply. Ulrich Steinmetzgerr writes over the Enja Debut in the Central German newspaper: „the 15 pieces miniature stories are, at times acoustic, and at times more related to the popavantgarde. Dramaturgy replaces simple Strophenstruktur… This is no longer the music made by a Miss miracle, but a miracle made by a woman.“ And Anja Buchmann commentates from WDR: „Hyldgaards compositions dance skillfully between Jazz, Pop, Housebeats and Singer Songwriter Idiomen – wild and tenderly, breathlessly and calmly.“ With that 2005 appeared album „Blush“ (Enja) in co-operation with „Tindersticks“ Dickon Hincliff as well as Remixer Matthew Herbert (Moloko, R.E.M.) Susi Hyldgaard succeeds again to convince completely as a composer and as a singer . Who could then describe the musical cosmos of Susi Hyldgaard? The Reference list in the press is long and impressive: There are Names like Bjoerk, Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Cassandra Wilson, tori Amos, Sidsel Endresen and Neneh Cherry called as well as Lamb, Portishead, massifs Attack and Lambchop. And as influences serve no less than Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, January Garbarek, Debussy . But Susi Hyldgaard reacted to these comparisons with the comment „naturally I heard these musicians and I think they are great. But that is it then also. I am not directly influenced.“ No miracle with an artist, that rarely listens to music and only occasionally switches the radio on. Susi Hyldgaard is what, lUlrich Steinmetzger formulated so precisely, „one of a kind.“ So simply actually is that. here’s a definite magic feel to Susi’s vocals on this set — a style that’s jazzy, but also quite contemporary — spacey vocals on older standards, blended with a 21st Century sense of rhythm and timing!
