Jean Paul Brodbeck belongs to the absolute top jazz musicians in Switzerland. His first trio album with Universal Music and his Song Of Tchaikovsky CD already achieved him an international reputation. Brodbeck is extremly versatile, exquisite melodic and has yet an unmistakable signature. A Different Mind is the result of his six month stay in New York.
At the tender age of 15, Basel, Switzerlandborn Jean-Paul Brodbeck was invited by no other than Lionel Hampton to jam onstage. After taking jazz classes with Hans Feigenwinter, he went on to study classical music with Peter Efler (piano) at the Conservatory of Music in Basel, from which he graduated with excellence in 1995.Since then Brodbeck has proved his stylistic versatility in diverse formations. Brodbeck has performed with such artists as Lionel Hampton, Herbie Mann, Andy Scherrer,. David Liebmann, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Nils Wogram, Matthieu Michel, Johannes Enders, Billy Hart.
Bassist Ben Street has played with many great jazz artists, notably Kurt Rosenwinkel on the album Next Step, Ben Monder on the album Dust and Sam Rivers on the album Violet Violets, with Billy Hart on his ECM debut All Our Reasons, Danilo Perez, and Adam Cruz. Since 2010 hes regular member of the John Scofield Trio.
Jojo Mayer is a highly acclaimed Swiss drummer born in Zürich and currently residing in New York City. Having taught himself throughout his childhood, he broke out into the professional music scene at the age of 18, joining the Monty Alexander group. Touring with the group launched him into the major jazz music scene, which culminated with his gigging with jazz-greats such as Dizzy Gillespie and Nina Simone.
Jochen Rückert was born near Koeln, Germany and started playing drums at age six. In 1995 he moved to Brooklyn, NY, where he lives now. He has been playing and recording with a variety of bands including Marc Copland trio, Kurt Rosenwinkel Group, Marc Turner Band, John Abercrombie, Pat Metheny, etc.
